Breast Lift
A breast lift raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. It is used to address the changes in women's breasts that occur as a result of pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, heredity, aging and gravity. Some examples of these changes include breasts that:
- Sag or are pendulous, but are proportionate with the body frame
- Have lost firmness or skin elasticity
- Have flatter, elongated shapes
- Have nipples and areolas (the pigmented skin around the nipple) that point downward
- Have stretched skin and enlarged areolas
A breast lift is for women who wish to improve breast shape and position with a more youthful, uplifted and firm breast profile. When an increase in volume is also desired, breast augmentation may be performed in conjunction with this procedure. Good candidates for a breast lift are healthy women without medical conditions that could impair healing who are nonsmokers and have a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for improving body image. A consultation with Dr. Hardy is the first step in evaluating whether a breast lift is the right procedure for you.
