Not only can BOTOX® Cosmetic help treat fine lines and wrinkles, it is also a proven treatment for severe underarm sweating, scientifically known as hyperhidrosis. Numerous clinical studies have shown that the injections work in a similar fashion to facial applications by chemically blocking nerve impulses that stimulate sweat glands, while allowing normal sweating to continue in non-treated areas of the body. Because sweat production is actually halted at treated sites, patients need not fear a “back-up” of sweat. As with the facial applications, this is a temporary treatment that lasts approximately two to five months.
