Dr. Hardy on Facial Plastic Surgery

In this video, Dr. Hardy discusses his approach to facelifts and other facial procedures. He wants his patients to look natural and refreshed, not like they've "had work done." Skip to 2:33 to hear Dr. Hardy discuss eyelid surgery specifically.

The Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Improved Self-Confidence

Blepharoplasty can target many of the common signs of aging to provide a significant enhancement in your appearance and your self-esteem.

Larger Field of Vision

Drooping upper eyelids can interfere with your vision. Dr. Hardy can use blepharoplasty to tighten the upper eyelids, allowing you to see more clearly.

Versatile Results

We offer a range of facial plastic surgery procedures at our practice serving the Missoula, MT, area. If appropriate, Dr. Hardy can combine your eyelid surgery with another cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift or rhinoplasty, to provide more dramatic results.

Blepharoplasty Step-by-Step

Dr. Hardy performs eyelid surgery as an outpatient procedure at our offices in Helena and Polson, MT.

Anesthesia

Dr. Hardy prefers to perform blepharoplasty with a combination of local anesthesia and oral sedation. Compared to general anesthesia, Dr. Hardy's approach has a lower risk of complications.

Incisions

Dr. Hardy will begin the surgery by carefully making incisions on the eyelids. He artfully places the incisions so that the resulting scar is practically invisible. Incisions on the lower eyelid are made either immediately below the eyelashes or on the inside of the eyelid, while incisions on the upper eyelid are made in the crease of the eyelid.

Alterations

After making the incisions, Dr. Hardy will carefully address the sagging or puffiness in your eyelids by removing excess skin and fatty tissue. He may also tighten underlying muscles. Finally, he will close the incisions.

After Eyelid Surgery

Recovery

Recovery from blepharoplasty is typically quick and involves only minimal discomfort. During the first few days, you may experience some minor irritation, sensitivity, or visual changes, such as blurred or double vision.

Following Dr. Hardy's aftercare instructions will do much to expedite your healing time and reduce discomfort. Most patients will take about a week away from work, although swelling and bruising may be noticeable for a short period of time thereafter.

Results

As the initial swelling and bruising begin to subside a few days after your surgery, you will notice the results of your procedure. Lifted upper eyelids will reveal improved contours from lid to brow. Patients with previously blocked vision should have a restored field of sight. The appearance of bags or drooping under the eyes will be remarkably less noticeable.

Patients should keep in mind that blepharoplasty is designed to treat the eyelids. Anatomically adjacent areas, such as the brow or cheeks, will not be affected.

The Cost of Eyelid Surgery

At Northwest Plastic Surgery Associates, surgery on the upper eyelid costs $3,750, while surgery on the lower eyelid costs $4,250. If you decide to have surgery on both eyelids, we will charge $7,000.

These prices are subject to change based on a number of factors. Obviously, if you choose to undergo an additional procedure alongside your eyelid surgery, the overall cost will increase. During your initial consultation, we will provide a quote and discuss your payment options.
